Last month I had the pleasure of documenting Miss Kennedy's journey into the world. I am always so honored and humbled to be a part of something so miraculous, big, and grand. To think that someone would ask me to photograph their first moments with their new baby? This is something I don't take lightly and every single birth is just as precious as the one before. And every single birth takes my breath and leaves me with a tear in my eye at the miracle of it all.
After a false start and 6 hours of hard labor, Miss Kennedy finally made her entrance. Enjoy.

2015 has seen a lot of changes for Dena Howard Portrait Design. We moved into our newborn studio and started niching in Newborn & Birth Photography AND we on on the verge of launching a brand new website geared toward new parents! So exciting! We will have a comprehensive list of resources ... everything from photographers to child and health-care providers. Keep your eyes peeled for more on that after the first of the year. Honestly, I can't thank you parents enough for giving me the privilege of photographing the newest members of your family. I've even been lucky enough to have some of you entrust me with your very first professional family portrait. Enjoy a little peek at all of the DHPD newborns that graced our studio with their presence. I'm now looking forward to a happy and joy-filled 2016.
God Bless you all. -Dena Meet Quincy. This 12 day old sweet girl slept through her entire session. Thanks so much Lauren for sharing your little one with me for a few hours :)
This little one decided to celebrate her one month birthday with a visit to the studio all the way from Cleveland, TN. Ella came on board as a model for some of "The Adored Baby" line of tiebacks and newborn accessories.
We also tried out our brand new "Mini Newborn Session" on her. This entire session was completed in less than an hour and below you will see all of the poses and sets that were captured during her session. I don't think I could have asked for a better little model. She was just perfect :)
I just realized I never blogged my grandson's birth! THIS is what made me fall in love with birth photography. It was absolutely one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had.
And just a quick little plug for Union General in Blairsville. Her nurse and doctor were absolutely amazing. Dr. Davis is the stuff! :) Enjoy Ezekiel's first look at the world ;)
You talked, we listened! DHPD is now offering an economy option for newborn portraiture. You'll still get our unwavering patience and post session processing, but the session will be much shorter than the custom 3 hour session everyone is used to.
The mini's will be done within one color scheme of your choice on 3 different sets. Packages will start at $75 and ordering session will be done immediately after your session. Take a peek into our new economy option and call us today to book your session! This little guy was absolutely perfect for his premiere photography shoot! His mom's a photographer also, so he was probably already used to the "click and flash" :) . We accomplished 7 sets in less than an hour and a half. That has GOT to be a record! And with no further ado, presenting .... Danner J!
It's a brand new year, so for my first post of 2015 what better to share than 2 brand-new babies? (Well, they're not so new anymore but I'm trying to catch up on my blog posts) :)
Enjoy! Jorrden & Jayse I had so much fun doing this session! I was a little worried getting started because I've been doing her big brother's pictures for years and he always gives me a run for my money trying to get some smiles out of him, but I worried for nothing! Conner LOVES being a big brother and even gave her some smooches. And Miss Maci? Well, she was just a complete angel the whole time.
Enjoy their session ... Congratulations Kevin, Veldia & Conner on your new little addition to the family. Some of you may not know what a newborn session actually entails. Well, this is how a normal session goes.
After an initial phone consultation with Mom, I traveled to Andrews, NC (beautiful drive, by the way) to Robert & Stephanie's home. I took my newborn wraps, blankets and throws and set up there. I really enjoyed doing the session at their house. I was able to see that they love antiques and rustic furnishings, which factored in to the way I photographed little Lilyana. Her session took about 2 hours and she only peed on me one time!! That's almost a record! :) We photographed 6 sets and this is the end result. What sweethearts! |
